Rules of Conduct (this will be where the welcome graphic is)

Beginners

Team practices will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Friday evenings. Please plan on being in the wrestling room a few minutes early to loosen up and be ready for practice to begin. If parents work schedules do not permit the wrestlers to be in the wrestling room by 6:00 p.m., please take a few minutes to warm up once you get to practice. Sore muscles are often a result of not properly warming up before your workout.

While practice is being held, wrestlers should not talk while a coach is speaking. If you have questions, you may ask when the coaches are finished. Please do not be hesitant to ask a question if there is something you don't understand. Learning a technique right the first time is important and also makes it a lot easier to perfect.

You may bring a bottle of water or sports drink to practice, however, please keep it off the mat so as to not get in anyone's way during practice or get spilled on the mat.

Wrestlers are not to be disrespectful to any of the coaches, coaches' staff, parents, other wrestlers, referees or anyone associated with practice, wrestling matches or tournaments. Disrespect will not be tolerated. If a wrestler or a parent has a concern or a complaint, he or she will discuss the complaint with the coachlcoaches so it can be handled properly and timely. Remember.. .you represent Red Land Youth Wrestling.

For any matches or tournaments, school attire is appropriate. Please note:

The coaching staff wants your child's participation in the Red Land Youth Wrestling program to be as enjoyable as possible. Working hard and wrestling as a team is a good way to learn how to participate in a competitive environment. Your child's cheering for and watching their fellow teammates compete should be as fun as wrestling the match themselves.

Eliminations
The advanced team regularly has numerous wrestling matches against other schools. Often times there are many wrestlers in one weight class. Each week every wrestler has the opportunity to eliminate or challenge for one of the weight classes on the varsity team for that week. Eliminations will be held on Mondays and Mondays only. We. can not take up important practice time Tuesdays and Thursdays to complete eliminations or challenges. If for some reason a match falls on a Monday, the previous week's line-up will carry over. It is the responsibility of the wrestler to let a coach know he/she wants to eliminate or challenge.

The weight classes in pounds in our wrestling league are as follows; 45, 48, 52, 55, 63, 67, 71, 74, 78, 82, 90, 95, 100, 110, 120 and heavyweight (max 1501bs).

Wrestlers must be within 1/2 to 3/4 lbs to eliminate, challenge or wrestle in a match in the respective weight class. It is not fair for the other wrestlers to eliminate or challenge for a particular weight and not be close to the weight you are eliminating for. Coaches, at their discretion, can and will check weights before an elimination match.

At the majority of our matches with other schools, weigh-ins are mandatory, which the wrestler will have to weigh in and make the weight class. Most times, there are minor weight allowances of about 3 to 5 tenths of a pound. Most coaches are very understanding, these are young children and weight loss at this age is not healthy. If a wrestler can not make weight he/she will not wrestle. If we have another wrestler in that weight class he/she will get to wrestle if they make weight, regardless of elimination results.

Should your child eliminate for a starting spot, he/she is expected to be at the majority of practices for the week. We will not allow a wrestler to eliminate and then not participate in practice the rest of the week.
